Message from W.V.D.S.A. Executive Board

Members:

We hope this message finds you all safe and well. It is hard to believe that we are already almost two months into 2026. This year's WV Legislative session is already half over. 

We wanted to share some information with the membership. The board has decided that going forward, the W.V.D.S.A. will only endorse candidates in the general election. We will no longer endorse candidates in the primary elections. 

If you have been following bills through this year's legislation season, you will see the only pending bill that directly affects the association is HB 5467, which proposes increasing the retirement multiplier from 2.5% to 3.0%. This has been a rollover bill the past two years. We do not anticipate this bill going anywhere. According to the actuary, our retirement sits at approximately 90% funded. We have until 2029 to be 100% funded. Until we reach that level, the legislature will NOT entertain any increases in benefits.

 **You are required to be a member in good standing to receive benefits of (1) Insurance - Accidental Death Benefits (2) Eligibility for WVDSA license plates, (3) Any other services provided to members** 

 **All members, both active and retired, are required to pay state dues to be eligible for any of the benefits or services provided by the WVDSA**

**Please provide each member's name and address.  Membership cards and WVDSA decals will be mailed upon payment of dues**
 

 If you wish to receive emails from the association make sure
your email on file is correct.  There are very few emails sent
each year so you will not be overloaded. If you want to be

Don't assume you are on the list.  Send me your information.

If you have requested that your email address be added to the W.V.D.S.A. Email list with a department issued email address and have yet to receive any correspondence, your email could be rejecting the emails.  If you have a personal email address, please provide it.  Thank you.
